The Last Remnant Remastered, a rejigged version of 2008's fan-favourite RPG, is coming to PlayStation 4 in the US and UK on December 6, publisher Square Enix has announced.

Originally released on the Xbox 360, The Last Remnant was the first game developed by the Final Fantasy creator to utilise the Unreal Engine. While it was intended to appeal to a mainstream, worldwide audience, the game attracted more positive reviews in its native Japan.

The Last Remnant was also set to appear on the PlayStation 3, although for one reason or another this version of the game never saw the light of day.

Squeenix's remastered version features high-definition visuals powered by Unreal Engine 4, and will be released digitally for £15.99 on the PlayStation Store. This will be the first time the game has appeared on a PlayStation platform, and arrives just after the 10th anniversary of the original release.
