42 in-game screenshots of The Last of Us Remastered have leaked online ahead of its launch next month, giving fans the first look at direct feed PS4 gameplay.

But be warned: before you go any further ahead there are some pretty big spoilers contained within, including that spoilerific prologue. If you haven’t played the PS3 original, I’d recommend giving them a miss.

With the screenshots out in the wild, Hardcore Gamer has been able to directly compare the PS4 remaster with the PS3 original. And while the differences aren’t as vast as some had been expecting, there still appear to be some noticeable technical improvements – not least of which the improved textures and bump up to 1080p.

The Last of Us Remastered launches on PS4 on August 1, but don’t get your hopes up for a sequel turning up any time soon.
