Naughty Dog has confirmed that the multiplayer-based Factions will be making a comeback in The Last of Us: Part II.

This is the first time the California-based studio has talked about multiplayer in the game, and even so, it's not going to any more details just yet.

'Factions is coming back,' The Last of Us: Part II co-director Anthony Newman confirmed to GameSpot. 'Multiplayer is coming back. We're not going to talk details yet about what form that takes, but we can confirm there will be multiplayer.'

The gritty post-apocalyptic sequel was showcased during Sony's E3 event in the early hours of Tuesday morning, giving us our first look at the game in action

The Last of Us: Part II is due out exclusively for PlayStation 4, though a release date has yet to be confirmed.
