The Last of Us is the No.1 selling video game in Japan for the week ended June 23, according to figures released by Media Create.

The PS3 exclusive from Naughty Dog sold an impressive 117,465 copies, coming close to the performance of Uncharted 3.

Back in November 2011, Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 3 shifted 124,989 copies in Japan during its first week on sale, but remember that this was the third game in a series which had been slowly gaining an audience in the territory.

The Last of Us didn’t prove to be a system seller in Japan, however, with week-on-week PS3 sales actually down by around 1,000 units.

Although by no means a huge success, shifting over 100,000 copies in Japan is a good result for a western-developed title.
