ZeniMax Online Studios has revealed that it is unlikely The Elder Scrolls Online will come to Nintendo Switch.

Speaking with GameSpot at PAX Australia this week, game director Matt Firor said that the fantasy MMORPG is simply too big to squeeze onto the Big N's hybrid console, though he made it clear he would 'love' to see Elder Scrolls Online come to the platform.

'We have thought about Switch but ESO is an enormous game, and it just will not work,' he said. 'I would love for it to because I love Switch. It is one of the largest games ever made, and it just will not fit on Switch.'

He's not exaggerating, either. The Elder Scrolls Online is about 75GB, according to Firor.

Still, it's not all bad news. Switch owners can still get their fix of Bethesda's sprawling fantasy series with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Elder Scrolls: Legends.

The Elder Scrolls Online launched for the PC in 2014 and arrived on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One the following year.
