Supermassive Games has announced it is going multiplatform with its next project, a series of standalone horror titles known as The Dark Pictures Anthology.

Kicking off in 2019 with seafaring horror romp Man of Medan, The Dark Pictures Anthology seems to be keeping in with the same cinematic-driven experience that propelled Until Dawn to critical and commercial success back in 2015. That's definitely a good thing.

Man of Medan takes place in the South Pacific, where a group of mates get together to hunt down a rumoured World War II shipwreck in the murky depths. Being young Americans, there's a bunch of partying going down too, although inevitably things soon go all Pete Tong.

In this case, a storm rocks up and the group find themselves surviving against all manner of terrors on a ghost ship. Much like Until Dawn, everyone can die or live — it's all down to you.

'Through the protagonists eyes you will uncover the secrets of the mystery surrounding the ill-fated boat. Figuring this out can save their lives – but whether or not they all escape is up to you,' reads the press blurb.

The Dark Pictures Anthology is coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One. A release date for Man of Medan has yet to be confirmed.
