Stoic Studio has confirmed on Twitter that its narrative-heavy Viking drama The Banner Saga will be released for Nintendo Switch on May 17.

The whole trilogy will eventually come to the Big N's hybrid powerhouse, although that won't be until later in the summer. Stoic will release the third and final instalment in the franchise for consoles and PC on July 24.

The Banner Saga focuses heavily on the choices that you make throughout the game, and won't just be limited to dialogue. While you can shape the narrative through conversation and travel, your decisions will also be felt in combat situations, where your choice of warriors on the battlefield can directly influence whether you emerge in victory or defeat, and may even permanently kill of a major character.

Soaked in Norse mythology, The Banner Saga won plaudits for its striking 2D visuals and hand-drawn combat sequences, as well as a roaring soundtrack composed by Grammy-nominated music maestro, Austin Wintory.

The Banner Saga was released on PC back in 2014 and later made the jump to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One two years later.
