That’s No Moon Entertainment is a new studio, formed by veterans of Naughty Dog, Bungie, and many more.

The studio will make “AAA independent” games, with more than $100 million in investment from Smilegate—the company behind Crossfire.

According to a press release, “Its debut project will be an ambitious, new action-adventure game.” Moreover, this debut game will, apparently, “push the limits of both gameplay and story.”

Its creative director is Taylor Kurosaki, who previously worked at Infinity Ward and Naughty Dog. The rest of the team includes talent from Sony Santa Monica, EA, and PlayStation.

Harold Kim, the vice president of business development at Smilegate made a statement on the collaboration. He said that “Smilegate is thrilled to be collaborating with the storytellers and game makers at That’s No Moon.”

Meanwhile, Michael Mumbaur, the CEO of  That’s No Moon, laid out his lofty vision for the studio. The mission? Simple: “Creating unforgettable stories and characters that will define and extend beyond our medium.”

We don’t yet have any specific details on this studio’s first project—other than being an action-adventure. Quite how it will push the limits of gameplay and story we will have to wait to find out. But a a team of sharp talent and deep financial backing is an exciting prospect.
