Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the creator of Rez, has said that he interested” in making a game for Sony’s PlayStation VR 2.

In an interview with VGC, Mizuguchi spoke about his team, saying that they are looking to virtual reality:

“I can’t say anything very specific… but we are very interested, and we’re thinking about how we can push VR, so we’re very interested in new hardware and how we’re looking to make VR games better. We’re very interested in the PSVR 2.”

Mizuguchi didn’t say what his team’s next game would be. Elsewhere in the interview, Mark MacDonald, the producer on Tetris Effect, hinted that the game may come to PS VR2. “There are still platforms that we’re not out on that we’d like to be. There might be future platforms that are coming out that we’d like to be on.”

Tetris Effect was the last game that Mizuguchi worked on. It came out in 2018, and it was very special, indeed. It made my games-of-the-year list.

I said:

“After the likes of MeteosLumines, and Every Extend Extra, there’s an inevitability to Tetris Effect, the feeling of something finally falling into place. . . . When you’re in flow, the images and sounds responding to your touch, you wonder where you’ve gone. Like the empty bucket at the game’s heart, it fills your head with ideas.”
