Tetris The Movie is being lined-up as an $80 million China-US co-production by new banner Threshold Global Studios, set up by Bruno Wu and producer Larry Kasanoff, reports Deadline.
Kasanoff, who produced the Mortal Kombat movie, is said to be in Cannes is search of international sales partners.
Threshold intends to film next year in China and other locations, utilising a Chinese cast.
As for what kind of film Tetris will be, Kasanoff says the sci-fi thriller is “not at all what you think; it will be a cool surprise.” Furthermore, Tetris will be the first in a new trilogy.
“The goal is to make world movies for the world market,” said Kasanoff. This one, he says, doesn’t have to “sandwich into a deal, it naturally fits.”
