Battle royale block puzzler Tetris 99 is usually free with a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, but in a surprisng move Nintendo has launched some paid DLC for the hugely popular game that allows it to be played offline for the first time.

The Big Block DLC, as it has been dubbed, offers two offline modes – a CPU battle which plays very similar to the standard online game only, as you've probably guessed, against 98 bots. The other is Marathon mode which essentially turns Tetris 99 into a standard game of Tetris where you must aim for as a high a score as possible.

Nintendo has also promised a third offline mode will be offered 'later this year' to those who purchase the DLC, with more details of that to come at a later date. The Big Block DLC is available right now on the Nintendo eShop for £8.99
