Jurassic Park from Telltale Games has been delayed, according to an email sent to consumers who pre-ordered the game on PC.

Telltale Games said the decision to push the release back to the autumn will mean PC gamers get the “best possible gaming experience”.

“Our goal was to release the first episode of Jurassic Park: The Game this month, and currently we are very excited about how the game’s creation is progressing,” said Telltale CEO Dan Connors in the email sent to pre-order consumers. “The game’s mechanics and storytelling have come together in such a way that we see great potential, so much so that we feel we can push these elements to the next level if we spend some extra time working on them.”

There’s some good news, though: the game will be hitting all platforms at the same time, and those who pre-ordered will be given a refund and a voucher for a free Telltale game.

“We’ll be investing the extra time into making the game great and it will be released simultaneously on every platform this fall,” he added. “We will begin issuing the refunds over the next couple of days and will reach out to you with information via email on how to get your free game.”

Games are delayed all the time, but it’s rare for a publisher to reward its consumers in the way Telltale is doing here. A free game for everyone who pre-ordered is a great gesture.
