The Walking Dead: Final Season developer Telltale Games has been sued by co-founder and former CEO Kevin Bruner.

According to a report on Marin Independent Journal, Bruner, who helped establish Telltale Games back in 2004, sued the company back in February over his ousting as CEO last year.

Although remaining on the board of directors, he says that the developer was obligated to offer him informational support has he attempted to sell his shares. Instead, Telltale ceased all communication and hired a new chief executive in the shape of Peter Hawley.

Following this, Bruner was removed from the company's board of directors. The lawsuit reads that 'the net effect of Bruner's alleged removal from the board of directors was that Bruner was deprived of relevant insight into the management and financial state of Telltale and the value of its shares.'

In response, Telltale's lawyers labelled the suit 'as an apparent means of extracting revenge on a company already under financial strain.' Despite its attempts to defeat the lawsuit outright, the judge opted to investigate and a case management conference has now been set for July 17.

It's been a pretty rough time for Telltale Games as of late, with the company cutting about 25% of its workforce in November last year as part of a 'comprehensive company restructuring.' This resulted in 90 employees being made redundant.

The developer is currently beavering away on a number of projects, including The Walking Dead: Final Season, The Wolf Among Us Season Two, and Stranger Things.
