Adventure developer Telltale Games has sadly announced that it is to let go of around a quarter of its workforce as part of a ‘comprehensive company restructuring.’

In a statement, the company said that the decision would make the studio, responsible for a huge number of episode adventures like The Walking Dead, Batman and Minecraft Story Mode, ‘more competitive as a developer and publisher of groundbreaking story-driven gaming experiences’.

Telltale Games CEO Pete Hawley said in the statement ‘Our industry has shifted in tremendous ways over the past few years. The realities of the environment we face moving forward demand we evolve, as well, reorienting our organisation with a focus on delivering fewer, better games with a smaller team.’

While presumably of little comfort to those that have lost their jobs, the statement also confirms that the changes will not impact any of the games previously announced or currently ongoing from the company. Telltale just released both episode Four of Minecraft Story Mode Season Two and wrapped up the first season of their Guardians of the Galaxy game.
