A Gears of War movie now looks more likely after Battleship and Ted producer Scott Stuber stepped up to produce a film based on Epic Games’ multi-million selling game franchise.
Stuber will begin developing a script with Epic Games.
Whilst Stuber’s arrival is a major development in the project’s chances of being made, no talent, writer or distributor are attached. Stuber is reported to have a first look deal with Universal.
A Gears of War movie first hit the headlines in 2007 when New Line picked up the rights and brought on board Len Wiseman to direct. However, problems between New Line and Epic brought the project to its knees.
