British outfit Team 17 has grabbed our attention with a trailer and announcement for a mysterious new game set in World War 2 it intends to reveal next week.

The game is so secret, in fact – it doesn’t even have a proper name yet, just being referred to as ‘[REDACTED]’ in its press release and the title of a short, creepy trailer. We know it’s being developed by Absolutely Games, and according to that developer’s website – they make games “in the strategy and tactics genre” – and with this being the studio’s first game, means that’s almost certainly a lock.

A couple of further clues may be found in the trailer itself – with the description (and the same video on Twitter) – including a morse code which translates to May 31, 2023 – so we [presume that’s when we’ll learn more about this game. In addition, a voiceover in the trailer mentions ‘Army of Shadows’ – and a brief Google of this phrase leads us to a 1969 movie about the French Resistance, so if we had to guess, we’d say it may be a good bet that said resistance is what the game might be about.

So we’ve got a World War II strategy game, potentially focused on the French Resistance, potentially for “PC and new-generation consoles” as per the developer’s website. That’s where we’ve also noted the game’s been in a Closed Alpha since the start of the year, so it might not be too long before it’s in our hands. Hopefully, we’ll indeed find out next week.
