Sega has lifted the bonnet on a new stage for Team Sonic Racing, with Hidden Volcano sending the Blue Blur and chums into a lava zone hidden within the guts of the Glacier Land realm.

Lava and ice-based stages have always been a staple of Sonic games, so it's unsurprising to see them adapted into a racing track for Team Sonic Racing. Remember Sonic 3's Ice Cap zone and Sonic & Knuckles' Lava Reef zone, for example? Those were pretty tough, if memory serves.

Here's a couple of screenshots on the new stage:

According to Sega's blurb, Hidden Volcano is 'distinguished by its lumps of ice created by the scorching hot magma within the iceberg and complicated terrain due to lava rocks.'

'At the starting line, a lava giant towers above the track and swings its fist downward to block the racers’ path forward.'

Team Sonic Racing is due out on May 21 for PlayStation 4, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
