UPDATE:
As expected, Sega has dropped an official announcement. In addition to the Switch version, Team Sonic Racing will also launch on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, and is indeed being coded by Sumo Digital.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
Team Sonic Racing, presumably the long-rumored Sonic racing game in development at Sumo Digital, has been spotted on Walmart's official website.
This goes a bit beyond the previous leaks from the retail giant, which were merely dodgy placeholders for the likes of Rage 2 (which turned out to be a thing after all) and Forza Horizons 5 (which, erm, did not).
The listing is only for Nintendo Switch at present, though we imagine it'll also come to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Perhaps surprisingly for a retail leak, there's a heap of key info to digest as well as the first in-game screenshots.
This is normally the part where I'd say 'take it with a pinch of salt,' but, well, it looks pretty legit, wouldn't you say? Unless someone at Walmart happens to be a Photoshop wizkid.
The only questionable thing here is the December 31 release date, which is presumably a placeholder.
As for game info, Team Sonic Racing apparently features online multiplayer and local cooperative modes, 15 playable characters (we're hoping Ryo Hazuki and his epic forklift truck make a return), plus various race types such as Grand Prix, Exhibition, Time Trial, and Team Adventure Mode.
As the name implies, Sonic's latest racer is all about teamwork: 'Race together and work together as a team by sharing power-ups and speed boosts,' reads the blurb.
Sega will probably drop off an official announcement soon enough, at which point we'll update the article.
