Team Sonic Racing has managed to claim the number one spot in the UK charts, and has managed to break two records for the Sonic franchise in its first weekend on sale, it has been announced.

As reported by GamesIndustry.biz from the UKIE/GfK chart data, the number one means that not only has Team Sonic Racing managed to outsell the previous series' outing  – Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed – by more than double, but it also marks the first time a Sonic game has topped the UK charts since 2008's Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Elsewhere in the charts, Rage 2 has dropped down to 4th position, while a Plague Tale: Innocence dropped down heavily from 9 to 31. As always though, these charts only account for physical sales.

Here's the top 10 for this week in full:

  1. Team Sonic Racing
  2. Days Gone
  3. FIFA 19
  4. Rage 2
  5. Red Dead Redemption II
  6. Tom Clancy's The Division 2
  7. Mortal Kombat 11
  8. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  9. Grand Theft Auto V
  10. Forza Horizon 4
