Just a few days after EA announced that they had made an exclusive deal with ESPN, giving the sole rights to use the brand in their sports games, Take-Two appear to be after a deal with the MLB.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the company (who recently bought Microsoft’s sports division) is in talks with Major League Baseball, preventing rival publishers from using the license, just as EA have done with the NFL and ESPN.

The report states that this has been made possible because of Take-Two’s increased wealth due to the success of GTA: San Andreas. EA may not be too worried though, as they don’t use the MLB in their Baseball games, instead using the MVP. However, this would effectively kill off all smaller baseball titles that currently use the MLB.
