The sports game market has been shaken up somewhat over the last few weeks, what with EA signing exclusivity deals with initially the NFL (and more recently the AFL), in deals that are tantamount to shutting-out the competition. So it should come as no surprise that the second-biggest player in the market is now also looking into getting some long-term security themselves. Having recently purchased Indie Built from Microsoft (creators of Top Spin, Links and Amped) to complement the ESPN brand from Visual Concepts, it is obviously important that the company have some sports still available to make games for.

So, in a move that could further kill-off competition in the sports genre, Take Two head Paul Eibeler confirmed that his company are currently talking a number of leagues about securing long-term deals, and have received some positive noises. Typically, though, no details of which sports were being discussed have been revealed, so feel free to speculate amongst yourselves – Pro Darts? Semi-pro Junior Badminton? Well we don’t know at the moment, but as soon as we do we’ll share, because we’re nice like that.
