PS4’s twin-stick shooter Super Stardust Ultra is coming to PlayStation VR, along with a brand new first-person mode.

Super Stardust Ultra VR includes all the “traditional” top-down modes fully playable in PS VR, plus the brand new ‘Invasion Zone’, which straps players into the cockpit of a plasma cannon-equipped ship and tasks them with blasting waves of enemies attacking from all sides.

“This new mode designed specifically for VR is played in a first person cockpit view, where you take control of a ship armed with the advanced weaponry typical of Stardust: plasma cannons, missiles, EMPs and an Inertial Disruptor,” says Sony. “For optimum results, the targeting system is fixed to the pilot’s head movement… look to aim and pull the trigger!”

Owners of the existing PS4 version of Super Stardust Ultra will be able to upgrade to the VR version for £7.99, with all other players able to jump in for £15.99. The game is expected to be available alongside PlayStation VR this October.
