As with previous games in the Monkey Ball series, you must guide your monkey in a ball (hence the name, Monkey Ball) around a series of increasingly difficult stages. We are talking about the DS here so control has switched from analogue stick to stylus. The top screen shows the action in 3D as you would see in the previous Monkey Ball games, while the bottom screen shows a 2D version of your monkey ball. To move around you just have to move the stylus over the monkey.

Super Monkey Ball DS will feature over 100 stages that mix entirely new levels with some of the best from past games. Six party games will also be present in the DS version. The magazine shows a hockey game where you must draw lines with the stylus to deflect the puck, and a racing game. Multiplayer will also be present, but full details are still to be revealed.

The game is currently said to be 60% complete and is expected to arrive on Japanese shelves in December.
