Capcom has revealed a version of hit fighting game Street Fighter IV will be released for iPhone and iPod touch next month.
According to IGN, the publisher has taken months to create a suitable control scheme for the touch device, with the lack of physical buttons likely to have caused one or two headaches. The game will utilise a virtual, on-screen pad and buttons to recreate the classic arcade stick.
The game will also utilise assets taken directly from the console version, meaning the acclaimed art style remains in tact, albeit shrunk down to fit the iDevice’s lower resolution screen.
You can expect a hefty roster of playable characters too, featuring a mix of classic and new brawlers. Thus far only Ken and Ryu have been confirmed, although one screen does feature Guile. Each fighter will feature a complete move set, including Ultras complete with the same screen-melting light explosions found in the console editions.
In addition to classic arcade play and a Dojo training mode, the iDevice edition will also offer the all-important multiplayer support. Played over Bluetooth, two players will be able to duke it out for ultimate bragging rights.
More details will be revealed over the coming weeks.
