Update: Capcom has made the decision to take the PS4 beta of Street Fighter 5 offline because of issues preventing gamers from actually playing the game.

A statement issued by Capcom reads: “We apologise for the ongoing issues that users have been experiencing with the SFV beta test. In order to allow us to fix the issues as quickly as possible, we are going to initiate a period of extended maintenance, during which time the beta will be unavailable to all users.”

Capcom adds: “We will let you know the date on which the closed beta test will re-open once all problems have been fixed. We sincerely apologise for having to bring this unfortunate news to you. Thank you for your patience. Please stay tuned for further updates.”

Update: The Street Fighter 5 beta is back online.

“SF V beta servers are now back on, we are aware of the reported server issues and will continue to investigate. Thanks for your patience,” Tweeted Capcom.

Original report: The PS4 Street Fighter 5 beta has been taken offline following reports of log-in and matchmaking issues from players.

A Tweet from the Street Fighter account confirmed the problems.

“We are currently able to authenticate user logins but are working on a fix for the matchmaking issues. Thanks for your patience.”

That was in the early hours of the morning, which Capcom followed up with a Tweet at 9am stating it would be a further two hours until servers came back online.

Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono also publicly apologised for the problems.

“I deeply apologize for causing you so much trouble this time,” he Tweeted. We need a little more time for fixing problem until 7pm(JPT)/3am(PDT)/11am(GMT).”

The Street Fighter account also confirmed that the beta will be extended, but hasn’t said how much extra time will be offered.

The beta is scheduled to run for five days.
