Starfield is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of the year and fans of the outer space adventure can no longer contain their excitement for all of the unique features that have been revealed so far.
With the June 2023 Starfield Direct event having showcased plenty of in-game scenes already, players are continuing to dissect every inch of the previews that have been provided to date and one aspect that has fans in a tizzy are the romanceable NPC’s you can spend your interplanetary time with.
Naturally, most of the characters you can woo through the romance system are predictably those that can accompany you throughout various missions like the Stetson hat-wearing Sam Coe and the leader of the Constellation faction, Sarah Morgan. However, it seems that some Starfield players want one particularly iconic person to be a romantic interest in the game: Todd Howard.
Although the Bethesda and Starfield executive producer has often been a target of the fan base’s ire due to his frequent public appearances, it appears Howard still has a few admirers in the community as evidenced by one player’s comment under a particular Reddit thread. In their message, they were simply hoping that because Todd Howard is allegedly in the game, then “there’s a chance he’s romanceable, right?”
To add a bit of context, the post in question simply contains a short clip of a Starfield pilot preparing for lift off while an unseen character steadily counts down and says “you are go for launch.” The seemingly familiar tone of the speaker has some speculating that this NPC is actually an in-game version of Todd Howard, which prompted the previous question from the hopeful fan.
Whether Todd Howard becomes a romanceable NPC in the game or not remains to be seen as the Bethesda director is yet to actually reveal the extent of his in-game involvement. However, if he does end up being added to the story in a romantic capacity, then a majority of the community would undoubtedly make wooing Todd Howard their main mission.
