Star Wars: The Old Republic will be rewarding users who decide to play morally neutral characters.
While previously hardcore light and dark side users were rewarded with exclusive loot for their dedication to role-playing, game director James Ohlen explained to PC Gamer:
“We knew with the light side/dark side system that there would be an urge, especially for min maxers, to go completely light side or dark side.
“We were careful about the rewards for Light Side and Dark Side as well. We don’t want to make them too impactful on the endgame because it would mean players wouldn’t be allowed to join an Operation unless they were absolutely Light Side and or Dark Side.”
He goes on to say all items will increase in power: “However, once we get to the next stage of our light side/dark side system, you’ll see the rewards. Light Side, Dark Side and the grey items will all get more powerful.”
BioWare’s other plans for the future of the game were recently drawn out, with a focus on new solo mission and potentially changes to Space combat.
