Star Wars: The Old Republic executive producer Rich Vogel has left BioWare Austin, reports Gamasutra.

The news comes amid reports that the studio is preparing to lay off staff, although the extent of the employee cull isn’t known.

Vogel spent seven years at BioWare Austin and oversaw all aspects of the Star Wars MMO, and had previously worked on other MMOs including Ultima Online, Meridian 59 and Star Wars Galaxies.

Star Wars: The Old Republic lost approximately 400,000 subscribers between February and May, and the studio has hinted at a possible free-to-play model in the future.
