BioWare hopes to help casual users experience more content in Star Wars: The Old Republic by introducing various “ramps” into the game to make it more accessible.
Speaking to VideoGamer.com, the MMO’s lead PvP designer Gabe Amatangelo stated in the future he hopes to introduce new elements that will help high-level casual players play through difficult content the game.
“…One thing I wanted was to make the Normal mode very accessible to casual players,” he explained.
Currently the MMO is home to many high-level casual players and Amatangelo hopes to bring these users deeper into the game by introducing new accessible content alongside the currently available difficulty modes.
“Based on metrics what we’re seeing is the people who get to 50, who aren’t the ‘I play 50 hours a week’ kind are able to get through Eternity Vault. Like, the casual level 50 players. So that’s really exciting and that’s what I want to do, introduce people into that environment and kind of gameplay, and then I want a ramp for them to get into some of the more exciting challenges. The different difficulty modes do that but I also want to do that with new and exciting content. We’re going to experimenting with higher tiers and challenges.”
Star Wars: The Old Republic’s first content update released today, featuring higher level group content, balancing and bug features, a new Flashpoint and Operation, level 50 bracketing for PvP WarZones, anti-aliasing, and changes to Open World PvP on Ilum.
