Star Trek Online launches for Xbox One and PS4 later this year, giving gamers the ability to explore the far reaches of the galaxy for free, even meeting other players when visiting the same area at the same time. Amazing.

Running for six years on PC, the game comes to consoles packed with content and new features such as controller play and improved visuals.

At launch the console editions of Star Trek Online will include over 130 featured episodes that build upon classic Star Trek stories and series, featuring a cast of Star Trek actors including Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine), Michael Dorn (Worf), Tim Russ (Tuvok) and more.

Each player’s story will begin as they choose from classic Star Trek factions including Federation, Klingon and Romulans, as well 32 species to customise their own Captain.

In the video below Star Trek Online exec producer Steve Ricossa talks through some of the features found in the upcoming console versions.
