Cryptic has published an official Star Trek Online FAQ suggesting that when the highly anticipated MMO launches console and PC players will be able to hook up.

“Will console and PC players be on the same servers?” asks the FAQ, to which Cryptic responds, “We would like that to be the case. There is nothing technologically keeping us from making it so”.

MMOs are still in their infancy on home consoles, but Microsoft has already begun to work towards a unified LIVE system that enables Xbox 360 and PC players to play together.

Cryptic hasn’t stated which console platforms Star Trek Online will appear but, given its other in development MMO, Champions Online, has been confirmed for Xbox 360 and PC, the Xbox seems a certainty.
