Star Fox Zero will release on Wii U in April 2016, Nintendo has announced.

While an exact European release date has yet to be confirmed, the space shooter will land in Japan on April 21 and in North America on April 22. Given the proximity of the two dates, you should probably expect to see it arrive on these shores around a similar time.

Star Fox Zero had previously been due to arrive this year but was delayed to offer Nintendo more time to develop the game’s “unprecedented” sense of discovery and provide more polish to its dual-screen gameplay, which sees a third-person perspective displayed on TV and a first-person perspective beamed to the GamePad.

The game didn’t leave Burns too impressed when he went hands-on with it at E3, however, who criticised it for its awkward controls and ropey visuals.

Still, if you missed last night’s Nintendo Direct and want to check out the latest trailer, why not take a little look at the video below?
