GSC Game World’s Stalker 2 1.5 update launched yesterday, and it’s an absolutely massive improvement. Alongside the introduction of mutant loot, two new weapons and a huge A-Life improvements.

On top of that, GSC officially released the first version of the Stalker 2 Mod Kit, dubbed Zone Kit, a massive 700GB download that gives players access to everything they could ever need to make massive mods for the game. And what are players doing? Well, the usual.

Stalker 2 mods get silly

While some players are hoping that modders will eventually make something similar to the original games’ Anomaly mod for the sequel. However, that will take a considerable amount of time to actually create.

Instead, the Mod Kit’s launch has resulted in mostly meme mods, and they’re glorious. With modders likely still downloading the game’s massive 700GB mod kit and learning how it works, the minor mods we’ve received so far are still entertaining.

Of course, Stalker 2 now has the traditional Thomas the Tank Engine and GTA CJ mods that are to be expected. One mod replaces the Aerostat over Zalissya with the beautiful Tank Engine whereas CJ now replaces Bloodsucker mutants across the Zone.

Other meme mods include Crocodilo Bombardino, a mod which replaces the front half of helicopters with a massive crocodile head, and SwampBOSS which adds Shrek to the Swamp area of the game.

However, my favourite Stalker 2 mod so far has to be the Sidorovich handgun mod, a mod which replaces in-game handguns with a model of the iconic trader. It’s stupid, its Stalker, and its downright beautiful.

Of course, this is only the start of Stalker 2 mods. With the new Mod Kit, players now have no limits for what they can or cannot create. Anything is possible, although mods for the in-game mod browser do need to be approved by GSC Game World via the Mod.IO platform.
