The Zone is a treacherous place where almost everything wants you dead, making Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl one hell of a survival game. However, it can be annoying sometimes when a pack of wild hogs decide to decimate you while you’re having a lovely stroll through the wilderness.
In the face of the Zone’s horrifying animals, one modder has decided to make the Zone a much nicer place by taming every animal in the game. While it may not be as exciting as a brilliant modpack that makes the game much harder, or one that massively cranks up the violence, it still has a huge effect on the game world.
Befriend animals in Stalker 2
Available right now on Nexus Mods, “Henrys All Animals Befriend” does exactly what it says on the tin. Created by modder Sunbeam, the mod aims to make the game’s open world more fun to stroll through with friendly animals hanging out all around the place.
To go with the mod, Sunbeam has even crafted a little bit of lore to explain why animals are no longer aggressive. Following the “arrival of a Lone Stalker in the Zone”, every animal has been naturally tamed “because they share the same affinity to the mysteries… of the zone”.
“All the Animals will not fight against you any more,” the modder explained. “They wander around and may stay in your village for a while. This changes the Zone quit a bit, because now the Animals declared a one-sided non aggression pact towards all humans and themselves.”
When exploring the Zone, you’ll notice that the following animals no longer wish to claw your guts out:
- Blind Dog
- Boar
- Bayun/Cat
- Chimera
- Flesh
- Pseduo Dog
- Pseudo Giant
- Tushkan/Rat
Of course, just because the animals of the Zone are friendly, that doesn’t mean everything is, and there are still some mutants (such as Bloodsuckers) that will really ruin your day.
Honestly, with the loot from animals being non-existent, fighting them can be a bit of a slog. On repeat playthroughs, fighting animals go from being scary and fun to being quite annoying, and they’re little than a waste of bullets. In my honest opinion, this mod is a must for your third, fourth or even fifth playthrough.
