THQ and Double Fine’s Stacking, the latest in a series of downloadable titles from the creative minds behind Costume Quest and Brutal Legend, will be offered as a free download to all PlayStation Plus members.

News came via the US PlayStation Blog, later confirmed for Europe via the EU PlayStation Blog Twitter.

“Not sure if you know this yet, but I’m hearing the PS Plus members can download Stacking, the new game from Double Fine, for free next week.”

Stacking goes on sale in the UK on February 9, priced £11.99 on PSN. The game will also be available on XBLA priced 1200 MS Points.

Given that a 90-day PS Plus membership costs £11.99 it looks like signing up is a no-brainer if you were planning of buying Stacking anyway.

There is one restriction worth remembering, however: Free games offered to PS Plus members are only playable whilst you remain a paying member – if the subscription ends then access to Stacking and the other free games is removed.
