Square Enix targeting eight blockbuster titles

Yahoo News Japan reports that Square Enix is aiming to expand its cornerstone release line-up beyond its established Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts franchises.

Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has said the publisher, which now owns Eidos, is aiming to up its efforts with the goal to achieve eight games each capable of shifting two million units – a move which could see a big release each quarter over a two year period.

Two or three of these titles are said to already be in development, with release dates targeted for late 2010, early 2011.
