Square Enix is considering a boxed release for its upcoming episodic adventure Life Is Strange.

Its comments follow confusion yesterday after the publisher polled Facebook users on their preferred design for the game's box art. The poll and box art have since been removed.

But in a follow-up statement to VideoGamer.com, Square Enix said that it "wanted to clarify that the game is only announced for digital delivery.

"We'd love to do a boxed version in future and therefore the artwork needs to be designed with that in mind," it said. "We are currently 100 per cent focused on the digital release coming Early 2015. To avoid further misdirection we have taken down the images for now."

Developed by Remember Me creators Dontnod Entertainment, Life Is Strange tells the story of Max Caulfield, a student who returns to the fictional town of Arcadia Bay to investigate the disappearance of a friend, only to discover she has the power to rewind time.

The game is due for release on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC early next year.
