Sierra Entertainment has announced The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, the third chapter in the successful Legend of Spyro trilogy.

Developed by Etranges Libellules, Dawn of the Dragon sees Spyro teaming up with an unlikely ally – Cynder – to face his most challenging mission to date. With the Dark Master’s evil enveloping the world like a disease, Spyro must fulfil his destiny and unlock the true power of the purple dragon within him.

The game will introduce two never before seen elements into the Spyro universe: Spyro can now fly at any time and a new drop-in/drop-out co-op mode has been implemented, enabling players to complete the game as either Spyro or Cynder.

Elijah Wood reprises his role as Spyro and is joined by Gary Oldman as Spyro’s mentor Ignitus. Hollywood names joining the Spyro cast this year include Christina Ricci, Blair Underwood, Mark Hamill and Wayne Brady.

The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon is scheduled for release this autumn for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2 and Nintendo DS.
