Capcom has today announced the development of Spyborgs, a new action game coming exclusively to the Wii. Developed by Bionic Games, comprised of former Insomniac Games and High Impact developers, Spyborgs is scheduled for release in 2009.

The game sees players take on the role of a diverse team of five bionic superspies in a fight to save the world from a group of evil villains. The game is set in a stylish world that is said to resemble Saturday morning cartons.

Players will jump between the identities of the five superspies, each with unique powers to match their super-spy skills, such as heavy firepower, martial arts, bladed weaponry, acrobatic skateboarding and pure robotic destruction. This misfit group might not look up to the task, but working together they can save the world.

Wannabe superspies will be able to tackle the game on their own, jumping between characters, or playing with a friend in two-player co-op.

“Our goal is to maximize the potential of the innovative Wii Remote while delivering a new paradigm in cooperative game play,” said Michael Haller, president, Bionic Games, “We also wanted to bring a lot of humour to the game which we feel we have accomplished. This game will make you laugh – for all the right reasons.”

Spyborgs is scheduled for release exclusively for Wii in 2009.
