Speaking to analysts about Spore, Will Wright and Spore producer Lucy Bradshaw outlined EA’s plans to make the ambitious multi-platform title a huge franchise.
Unlike The Sims, Spore has been designed from the outset to accommodate expansion packs, booster packs and microtransactions. Additionally the game will be supported across other media, including a comic book creator using your spore creatures, creature sculptures, additional merchandise and a National Geographic TV show.
In addition to versions for PC, Mac, DS and mobile devices, Spore was also confirmed for Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3 – details of these home console versions were not offered.
Spore has been announced for release worldwide on the weekend of September 7, but EA has also revealed that a creature creation tool is to be released prior to the main game. No release date for the Creature Creation tool has been confirmed.
