Ubisoft is really going all out for the Wii launch. Having already announced seven launch titles, the publisher has now revealed an eighth in Splinter Cell Double Agent.

We are very excited to bring Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent to the Wii this holiday season,” said Tony Key, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. “The Splinter Cell franchise has always translated very well across multiple platforms and we are confident that the Wii version will continue the tradition of maximizing the capabilities of each respective video game console platform.

Don’t expect Xbox 360 visuals, but instead an upgraded version of the GameCube and PS2 game. The game will also lack some of the missions found in the Xbox 360 version, but will feature a control system designed specifically for the Wii’s nunchuck and remote. Although unwilling to give too much away, Ubisoft did give one example of how the controller will be utilised: shaking the remote will make Sam Fisher pick locks.

What does seem disappointing is the lack of any online modes, but downloadable content hasn’t been ruled out just yet.
