Webcrawlers out there can now snatch a look at how Spider-Man 3: The Game is shaping up on next-gen consoles with the first teaser trailer to be released.

The footage which claims to be using the in-game character model can be found at Activision’s newly launched official website and shows Peter Parker’s alter ego swinging from rooftops, firing his web and generally looking very heroic indeed. The ad promises gamers will be seeing a Spidey “like never before” and to “Get ready for the ultimate spin”.

Along with desktop wallpaper, instant messenger icons and info on the movie itself, the site features a developer blog from the lead producer on the title. A chance to see the game early at Activision’s California HQ is also up for grabs in an exclusive competition.

Spider-Man 3: The Game is due out alongside the Sam Raimi-directed film in May on pretty much every format you can think of. While the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions (developed by series veterans Treyarch) will obviously have the shiniest graphics, we can expect the Wii and DS versions to make full use of those consoles’ unique features – webslinging with the Wii-mote anyone?
