After being delayed from its original 2006 launch, fans of RTS-RPG hybrid SpellForce 2 won’t have to wait to long to get their mitts on the first expansion pack for the game.

A Q1 2007 release for Dragon Storm has been mooted before, but now looks to be set in stone, thanks to a new co-publishing agreement signed between JoWooD Productions and Koch Media – who previously worked together on titles like The Guild 2 and the popular Gothic 3.

“Such a doubled financing power is a great chance to produce triple-A products of stunning quality in order to secure worldwide success,” said Albert Seidl, CEO of JoWooD Productions.

Dragon Storm, which sees players embarking on a new adventure involving dragons at war and the control of magic portals, is the first game to be released under the new agreement.

“Dragon Storm will offer once again raise the barrier in terms of quality and gameplay and will definitely be a highlight for all SpellForce Fans,” explained Amelie Clement, Senior Brand Manager at JoWooD Productions. “Phenomic have the resources and the development time to present a gaming experience to the fans that will fully meet their expectations.”

We will let you know a final release date for the expansion as soon as we have it.
