Empire Interactive has today announced the development of Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe for Xbox Live Arcade. The game is one of the most wanted games on the Live Arcade platform and will offer the same hard-hitting action, but now in high definition, with more teams, downloadable content and Xbox Live multiplayer.

We are pleased to be bringing this all time classic to Xbox Live Arcade,” commented Ian Higgins, CEO Empire Interactive. “With its brutal and addictive gameplay, and the ability to play multiplayer over Xbox Live, we are sure this will be the definitive version of Speedball.”

The first Speedball game was released for the Amiga back in 1990, but it wasn’t until the release of the sequel that the series went on to achieve huge success – Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe sold over 2 million units.
