As you probably already know, Spartan 458 is a lady, but her real name is Nicole. She was born in the year 2531 in the city of New Legaspi on Mars, and at the age of six was adducted by agents of the Office of Navel Intelligence and entered into the Spartan II program. She was then trained to become the perfect soldier.
So how does Nicole end up fighting the likes of schoolgirls and Ninjas? Well, Bungie doesn’t want us to worry ourselves with minor details such as these, but instead just enjoy the fact that there is a Spartan in Dead or Alive 4. Bungie has, however, elaborated on how Nicole who lives in the 26th century ended up back in the 21st century. Her unit was preparing for a classified mission when a freak slipspace anomaly created a semi-stable “bubble” in the space/time continuum. Nicole becomes trapped in the 21st century in the hope of returning to her time.
