Austin-based developer Spacetime has announced it is no longer receiving funding from NCsoft for its MMO project Blackstar.
NCsoft signed a publishing deal with Spacetime two years ago for the original space combat MMO Blackstar, but with the funding now pulled the future of the title is uncertain.
The developer remains committed to the new IP and is exploring other options, but has had to let 12 staff members go. There is, however, no ill feeling towards NCsoft. A message on the Spacetime blog states: “There is a tremendous amount of mutual respect between our companies. They have conducted themselves with honor and integrity, and we would work with them again in an instant.”
