A new mod for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 has removed all Chaos encounters from the game, allowing the Xenos threat of the Tyranids to descend upon Demerium. With even the game’s developers admitting Tyranid fights are way more fun than Chaos fights, one fan has taken it upon themselves to bring more Xenos fights to the game.

Tyranid Ops mod in Space Marine 2

Released on Nexus Mods, the new Tyranid Ops – Warhammer Workshop replaces the Thousand Suns Chaos enemies “with the deadly xenos of the Hive Mind”. Every Operation in the game using the mod swaps out Chaos Space Marines for Hormagaunts and Carnifexes complete with “new AI behaviors and brutal combat tactics”.

“The fate of Demerium rests in your hands as you fight to contain the Tyranid invasion,” the mod synopsis reads. “This mod delivers a new, intense challenge for players looking to test their skills in a fresh cooperative experience.”

Alongisde working in solo matches, the Tyranid Ops mod also works in multiplayer, albeit via private matches. After all, attempting to run the mod in an online public may not only not work but also get you banned.

Easier than the base game

As well as adding Xenos enemies to Chaos missions on Demerium, the mod also makes some balance changes to the game. After the new patch made the game much harder, although the game’s developers are already working on a fix, this mod also fixes the weak Assault Class and more.

At the time of writing, there’s still not that many mods available for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2. Nevertheless, there is a slowly emerging mod community for the game that should hopefully explode in the coming years.
