Atlus West and Sega have announced Soul Hackers 2, a JRPG sequel coming to the West this August.

The game is the follow-up to 2013 Nintendo 3DS title Shin Megami Tensai: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. That game was a subseries of Shin Megami Tensai spinoff Devil Summoner, but thankfully it appears to have dropped the all the other titles for the much catchier Soul Hackers 2 moniker.

We’ll go to the blurb for the info. “In a war between devil summoners, it’s up to Ringo and her team to decrypt destiny and save the world from apocalypse!” Expect plenty of turn-based action and some time twisting shenanigans, as you try to prevent the deaths of your fellow summoners. In doing so, Ringo hopes to use the team of resurrected Summoners to avert the world from a nasty end. Best get to it, then.

Believe it or not, the original Japanese release of the first game was all the way back in 1997 on the Sega Saturn. So, it’s fair to say this sequel has been long-awaited. Luckily, there isn’t too much longer to wait. Soul Hackers 2 arrives on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on August 26. There’s an announcement trailer, check that out below.
