Sony is to issue refunds to all customers who purchased a digital copy of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn via PlayStation Store between August 27 and August 28 following ongoing issues with the game’s servers.

In an update on the EU PlayStation Blog, SCEE blog manager Fred Dutton confirmed that all Standard Edition and Collector’s Edition customers will be refunded, with the funds being placed back into their PlayStation wallet.

“In addition, the entitlements of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn Standard Edition or Collector’s Edition will be reset and the title will appear again in the download list.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience,” Dutton added.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was pulled from PlayStation Store last week following the game’s ongoing battle against server issues.

However, it isn’t clear from the wording whether Sony’s decision to refund customers will mean that those affected will be able to re-download the game at no additional cost, or whether the game will return to PlayStation Store in the future.

It also isn’t known whether the decision to remove the game from PlayStation Store will affect the game’s launch on PS4 next year.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has faced ongoing issues following its launch two weeks ago, with persistent server issues blocking players from entering game worlds.

Square Enix has previously apologised to fans for the issues.

VideoGamer.com has contacted Square Enix for additional clarification and to ask whether Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will return to PlayStation Store in the future.
