Sony to face third PS3 lawsuit

A relatively unknown company called the Parallel Processing Corporation is due to take Sony to court as they claim the Japanese electronics giant has infringed upon patents granted to them in 1991.

The claims concern the parallel processing cell chip that powers the PS3, which, it is claimed, intrudes on patents of a “synchronized parallel processing with shared memory“.

The claim covers additional Sony products, and makes the seemingly ambitious demands that any of the company’s technology that violates the patent should be impounded and destroyed.

Sony told GameSpot: “We don’t comment on pending litigation.

Sony has previously run into legal problems over the construction of its PS3 Blu-ray discs and the system’s digital security technology.
